The following pages detail the research interests and avian bioacoustic consulting services of Dr. Zach G. Gayk.
Zach is passionate about migratory birds, their ecology, behavior and conservation. Zach’s primary research interest is in advancing our knowledge of songbird migration through bioacoustic monitoring of actively-migrating bird populations.
As they fly under the cover of darkness, many songbirds regularly utter flight calls—short, structurally simple vocalizations that may be important for helping birds maintain contact with each other during migration. Unique acoustic features of each species’ call offer an unparalleled source of information that can identify hundreds of species of migratory birds, while actively migrating.
